Meera Art Museum

The Meera Art Museum (MAM) is located in an old Tuscany style country house in the middle of a vast oak forest near Casole d’Elsa (Siena, Italy). This magical place is dedicated to well-known Japanese artist Meera Hashimoto (1947-2017) and displays some of her important artworks. You may feel in wonder by those paintings and a place, where beauty and serenity meet with wild aliveness.

Meera Hashimoto was a painter since early childhood and created countless paintings in various styles and formats. This permanent exhibition gives a taste of her quality as an artist and introduces a vision of art that is born out of meditativeness and a deep ‘yes’ to life. Those paintings that were born from joy, silence and a playful heart tend to create in the viewer those same feelings.

Meera was also an art therapist, who was dedicated to help others to discover their hidden inner source of creativity. For more than 40 years she worked in Italy and all around the world, leading painting courses and trainings that combined painting with meditation, dance and therapy. Her discoveries and unique style of creative expression are documented in her books and in many videos, that can be viewed at the museum as well. For that purpose, the museum hosts a projector room and a small refreshment area.

The museum is maintained by the Meera Art Foundation (MAF) in collaboration with the Osho Miasto Institute. The entrance is free of charge, precisely because we would like to inspire a wider public with the desire to enter the wonderland of creativity. This desire led to the idea of opening the museum also to schools through dedicated educational projects, to bring children and teenagers closer to the world of art. Finally, it is also our intention to support local artists by offering the space of the Museum, both internal and external, to exhibit their works.

“The beauty of nature is available to everyone. The question is only if we are silent enough to receive this beauty or not. Once you say yes to yourself, once you say yes to the moment, then this overlap of the beauty will come more and more into your life.“ Meera Hashimoto

______________________________________________________________________

Meera Hashimoto
